Readers of The Contemplative Activist will often ask me to tell my story.
“What exactly happened to you!” folks ask, “What made you, after nearly 30 years of pastoral ministry, make such radical changes in the way you look at doing life…and doing church?”
As you might see from perusing our website, Sandy (my wife) and I now call ourselves “recovering” 3-B pastors on our way to becoming Christ-centered 3-C contemplative activists. Allow me here to offer you a series of six short blogs (much of it taken from our larger blog series, Our Ignatian Prayer Adventure) which tells in better detail what the heck happened to two very nice 3-B pastors as they were looking to finish strong in their call to pastoral ministry.
Below, you will find a list of all the posts (6 blogs) of this short series. We suggest that you bookmark this home page for ease of use. Enjoy!
Each one of our blog studies can serve you well as a support piece in your devotional life with Jesus. As you’ll see when you open up one of our pages, each blog begins with a short scripture or reading, some thoughts to consider, and then concludes with a prayer and a question or two for you to ponder. Go slow. Walk at your own pace, inviting the Holy Spirit to join with you as you read and reflect.

Recently, a good friend of mine, Rafael Gómez, who is attending classes at Fuller Seminary asked if he might share a brief part of my story in a paper he was writing for his Masters class in Global Leadership. Click here to read Rafael’s report!
And BTW, we’d love to hear your 3-B story as well! Drop us a line or two, and join us on our way to becoming Christ-centered 3-C contemplative activists!
