Contemplating The Psalms

Back in 2013, I first introduced our As I See It readers to my contemplative journey through the Psalms. With three blogs per week (Monday, Wednesday & Friday), it took us nearly one whole year to make it through all 150 Psalms! Since we’ve had a large number of new readers join us since 2013, I’ve prayerfully decided to re-blog this series, and yes, once again, the project will take us until Christmas-time 2018 to complete our journey! I invite you to join us!

Two differences this time.

First, I’m going to break the 150 Psalms into seperate sections of 15 each (see below). That way, you can make this page your home page for the whole series and link easily to the ten separate portions of Psalms you’d like to mediate on.

Secondly, might I suggest that you get yourself a fresh copy of Eugene Peterson’s little booklet, The Book of Psalms. You can order a copy here. This handy little book contains The Message translation of each of the Psalms, and that way, you can keep Peterson’s complete text in front of you as we’re discussing just a few verses from each Psalm in our blog.

So here we go. Enjoy our journey as we contemplate the Psalms!

We suggest that you bookmark this home page for easy use throughout the entire journey!

Below, you will find a complete list of all ten sections of this series. We suggest that you bookmark this home page for ease of use. Enjoy!

Each one of our blog studies can serve you well as a support piece in your devotional life with Jesus. As you’ll see when you open up one of our pages, each blog begins with a short scripture or reading, some thoughts to consider, and then concludes with a prayer and a question or two for you to ponder. Go slow. Walk at your own pace, inviting the Holy Spirit to join with you as you read and reflect.

One Final Word

Don’t take this journey into The Psalms alone! One of the best ways to explore the on-going applications of this blog series is to walk alongside a biblically-based, Christ-centered spiritual director who is familiar with how to make material like this part of your overall spiritual formation in God. Many of our directors in our Sustainable Faith-Heartland network are available to companion you in your journey with Jesus. Click here for more info.
