Chapter Twenty-Three: The Father’s Good Blessing.

The Story of Good – Learning to Steward the Good Within.

When He had finished washing their feet, He put on His clothes and returned to His place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” He asked them.“You call Me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and rightly so, for that is what I am. Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him. Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.”  ~ John 13: 12-17 (NIV)

I was suddenly filled with a magnificent warmth,

I’d never felt anything like this ever before.

A cleansing fire was burning within my body.

A purifying water was rushing across my mind.

A refreshing wind was blowing over my barren soul.

“My child,” the Father called out to me,

“You are Earth. You are Mine.

You are made in Our image.

You are Good.

You are very Good.

I love you.”

“I AM on your side.

I AM coming after you.

I AM relentless.

I AM your provision.

I AM your promotion.

I AM your perpetuation.

I AM enough.”

“Now, in the Oneness We share with you,

Receive all the Good We have for you.

Soak it in and allow it to set you free.

Where Good is, there is freedom!”

The fire now was all around me

And yet it was also burning inside me.

A fire that warmed and purified me,

Yet a fire that did not destroy me.

God’s Good experienced like never before.

I was becoming one with the circle of light.

“Now,” the Father continued,

“In the Oneness We share with you,”

“We commission you to go in Our Name,”

“Never neglect your call to give this same Good to others.

Where Good is, there is freedom!”

“Receive and give. Give and receive.”

“For the glory of Our Name.

For the Good of Our Name.”

“Forever and ever.

Amen and amen.”

Ponder on these things:

Of these seven I AM’s that God promises to you…

I AM on your side.

I AM coming after you.

I AM relentless.

I AM your provision.

I AM your promotion.

I AM your perpetuation.

I AM enough…

Which ones are speaking the loudest to you right now? And why?

Describe the situation you are facing today that is inviting you to rest in Jesus and receive God’s Good.

What will it look like for you today to give away some of God’s Goodness to others?  Ask the Holy Spirit to bring a specific person or situation to mind.

Over a period of about eight weeks (3 sessions per week), we will take you on a poetic journey (26-sessions) we call The Story of Good. We suggest you bookmark our blog series homepage to keep all the writings in one place for your future reference. Take note that each blog session begins with a short scripture reading. My suggestion is that you don’t hurry through, or skip the text, but treat it as a Lectio Divina reading where you slow down and sit a bit with God’s Word, allowing it to penetrate and influence you as you read. Each session also ends with a few thoughts to ponder on. I look forward to hearing some of your insight as we journey together!

Oh, and if you enjoy what you’re reading here, we encourage you to share this page and our website, The Contemplative Activist, with your friends!

  2. Timely today. Helped me make a choice. One that for others may have been a no-brainer. But you know me.
