Chapter Five: Faith. Hope. Love.

The Story of Good – Learning to Steward the Good Within.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. ~ 2ndCorinthians 13: 14 (NIV)

“Evil exists, My child,” Jesus said,

“Because you and others, made in Our image,

Miss the mark when knowing how powerful Good is.”

“I don’t understand, Sir,” I responded.

“Evil is bad. Good is good. Right?

Aren’t they opposites?

How can you say Evil exists,

Because we fail to understand the power of Good?”

“Evil exists,” Jesus said,

“Because you don’t understand,

That Evil is simply Good turned sour!”

At this moment, I must have had a silly look on my face,

Because, just as Jesus was preparing to say more,

The Spirit spoke up.

“Jesus, if You are alright with this,

Please allow Me to help here.”

“Certainly, Spirit, please do,” Jesus said.

“My child,” the Spirit said,

“Let me help you by telling you more about Good.

You see, God has made Good,

The strongest element within the universe.”

“Humans believe that Wind, Water, Fire, and Earth,

Are the core elements that hold everything together.”

“It’s true that these are important,

But you fail to understand that there is a stronger power,

An unstoppable truth that binds all life in Our universe together.

That power is Good.”

“And it’s Good which has at its core,

Three core elements which will never pass away.

Faith. Hope. Love.”

“We Three you see here today,

Gathered around this flame,”

“We are God. We are One.

We are Wind, Water, Fire.

We are Faith, Hope, Love.”

“We are Good. Eternal.

Forever. One.

No beginning.

No end.

Amen.”

Ponder on these things:

Describe how you have pictured God over the years.

What feelings are evoked when you expand your image of God to include words like Faith, Hope, Love; or Wind, Water, Fire?

If you could use a set of different metaphors in describing the persons of the Trinity, which words would you use, and why?

Over a period of about eight weeks (3 sessions per week), we will take you on a poetic journey (26-sessions) we call The Story of Good. We suggest you bookmark our blog series homepage to keep all the writings in one place for your future reference. Take note that each blog session begins with a short scripture reading. My suggestion is that you don’t hurry through, or skip the text, but treat it as a Lectio Divina reading where you slow down and sit a bit with God’s Word, allowing it to penetrate and influence you as you read. Each session also ends with a few thoughts to ponder on. I look forward to hearing some of your insight as we journey together!
