The Story of Good – Learning to Steward the Good Within.
God spoke: “Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature. ~ Genesis 1: 26 (TM)
“We finished Our Good work by creating you,” the Spirit said.
“Our Masterpiece. Made in Our own image.
We formed you and those like you.
Black, white, yellow, red, brown.
All made in the image of the Creator,”
“Designed exclusively to be co-creators of Good,
Good reproduced in every corner of the globe.”
“My Wind fills your lungs.
Jesus’ Water cleanses your body.
God’s Fire burns deep within.”
“Good is your name.
Good is your purpose.
Good is your destiny.”
“You are Good.
You are very Good.”
“Why is it, Spirit,
That I don’t see or feel that Good you speak of?” I asked.
The Spirit paused.
His eyes turned from me, looking back within the circle of light.
The Father turned His eyes toward the Son.
The Son, in turn, looked over to the Spirit.
The Spirit seemed in no hurry to answer my question.
The fire at the center of the circle seemed to grow in intensity.
As I stared into the flame,
My body began to feel the increase of heat.
So much time seemed to go by,
I began to wonder if I had asked the wrong question.
Had I offended the Spirit?
Had I spoken out of turn?
After what seemed like an eternity of silence,
Jesus turned His eyes from the fire.
He began to look directly at me.
I was fearful of what He was about to say.
Ponder on these things:
Take a moment to soak in the truth that you are one of God’s masterpieces.
Focus on something special about yourself that reflects God’s image.
As you ponder on that special good inside you, what feelings are evoked?
Over a period of about eight weeks (3 sessions per week), we will take you on a poetic journey (26-sessions) we call The Story of Good. We suggest you bookmark our blog series homepage to keep all the writings in one place for your future reference. Take note that each blog session begins with a short scripture reading. My suggestion is that you don’t hurry through, or skip the text, but treat it as a Lectio Divina reading where you slow down and sit a bit with God’s Word, allowing it to penetrate and influence you as you read. Each session also ends with a few thoughts to ponder on. I look forward to hearing some of your insight as we journey together!
