Chapter One: An Invitation to Good.

The Story of Good – Learning to Steward the Good Within.

Come now, let us reason together, says the Lordthough your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool. Isaiah 1: 18 (ESV)

In the beginning, there was Good.

Complete. Whole. Full.

No wants. No needs.

Nothing lacking.

Just Good.

Good, and only Good.

Light. Love.

Limitless. Pure.

Powerful.

Good.

Good sees me staring.

Good beckons me to come closer.

“Draw nearer to the fire, My child.

Warm yourself from My embers.”

As I step in toward the flame,

A warmth is emanating from a circle of light that surrounds the fire.

A fiery ring made up of three persons,

All seated around a brilliant light.

The trio is tending the fire,

Yet they seem inseparable from it as well.

All aflame. All One. All Good.

Burning brightly but never diminishing in heat or light.

“Step in closer,” a Voice beckons, “Draw up a chair.”

“Let Us tell you Our Story. Your Story.

The Story of Good.”

“I have a Story?” I asked.

“Most certainly,” replied the Voice,

“You are part of Our Story.

We are a part of your Story.

We are all One.”

“Now sit. Take this bread and wine.

Eat and warm yourself here by the Fire.”

“Now, let Us begin.”

Ponder on these things:

When was the last time you had a special invitation extended to you?

Go back and recall all the details you can remember surrounding that invitation.

Now reflect on those feelings that were evoked as you received that special invitation.

Over a period of about eight weeks (3 sessions per week), we will take you on a poetic journey (26-sessions) we call The Story of Good. We suggest you bookmark our blog series homepage to keep all the writings in one place for your future reference. Take note that each blog session begins with a short scripture reading. My suggestion is that you don’t hurry through, or skip the text, but treat it as a Lectio Divina reading where you slow down and sit a bit with God’s Word, allowing it to penetrate and influence you as you read. Each session also ends with a few thoughts to ponder on. I look forward to hearing some of your insight as we journey together!

Oh, and if you enjoy what you’re reading here, we encourage you to share this page and our website, The Contemplative Activist, with your friends!
