kalos Kalós: Guarding the Precious Treasure

Join us for a brand-new 26-session blog series, Kalós: Guarding the Precious Treasure. Kalós is a New Testament Greek word which simply means “good.” The apostle Paul, when writing to his young apprentice, Timothy, decided to combine this common adjective, kalós, with a second Greek word, parathéké, a noun which means a deposit or trust committed to one’s charge. As a result, the apostle ends up with one, very powerful phrase…“Guard this kalós (this good work, this beautiful deposit, this precious treasure) placed in your custody by the Holy Spirit who works in us.” (2nd Timothy 1: 14). Join us as we explore kalós, this precious treasure of pastoral ministry that has been deposited into us by the work of the Holy Spirit. Click here for more details!

Coming in late November…

Christmas Through the Eyes of the Heart

The richest prayer life comes through a multi-sensory connection with God. Two ancient disciplines first developed by Jesus-followers in ages past are called by fancy Latin names: Lectio Divina (which simply means divine reading) and Visio Divina (which simply means divine seeing). These two spiritual practices, when brought into your devotional life with God, can bring a new vitality to your journey with Jesus. This Christmas, I invite you to join us for Christmas Through the Eyes of the Heart: a 14-session blog series which combines the reading of the Christmas story, as found in God’s Word, with seeing, using fourteen pieces of beautiful artwork that can bring your imagination to life. And last, but not least, the series that is coming in January 2018…

psalmslogo Contemplating the Psalms

Back in 2013, I first introduced our As I See It readers to my contemplative journey through the Psalms. With three blogs per week (Monday, Wednesday & Friday), it took us nearly one whole year to make it through all 150 Psalms! Since we’ve had a large number of new readers join us since 2013, I’ve prayerfully decided to re-blog this series, and yes, once again, the project, Contemplating the Psalms, will take us until Christmas -time to complete our journey! I invite you, dear reader, to join us! Click here to find out more.

We certainly hope you’ll join us along the way!

Each one of our blog studies from As I See It can serve you well as a support piece in your devotional life with Jesus. As you’ll see when you open up one of our pages, each blog begins with a short scripture or reading, some thoughts to consider, and then concludes with a prayer and a question or two for you to ponder. Go slow. Walk at your own pace, inviting the Holy Spirit to join with you as you read and reflect.

Since January 2010, we’ve been publishing our devotional blog, As I See It on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. For seven years now, folks like you have been visiting our site, and just recently we topped the 80,000 hit mark! Thank you, dear readers…we are honored, indeed. We suggest subscribing to our free blog and using the material in your own devotional times. If you’d like to join with over 1,900 other friends of The Contemplative Activist website who are subscribed to our free blog, simply scroll over (or down) to the Follow Blog via Email icon, click, and you’ll be all set to go.
