Here’s how to get started with spiritual direction…
The Sustainable Faith-Heartland Network of Spiritual Directors is now serving the larger body of Christ as spiritual directors to all who are looking for Christ-centered direction in their lives.
Step One: Fill out this form (below) and hit the SUBMIT key.
Step Two: Via email, we’ll followup with you, assigning a director to you and finding the best time in our schedules for setting up two free exploratory sessions with you. In our first one-hour session, our director will discuss our basic road map for spiritual direction, hear a bit of your history, plus allow plenty of time for you to ask any questions that you may have. During our 2nd one hour session (generally spaced about one month later), we’ll spend time in God’s presence, listening and responding to His direction during our time together. After our introductory sessions, we suggest that you prayerfully consider if entering into a season of spiritual direction is right for you. If so, we will proceed with setting up a once-per-month hourly session with you.
Please note: Generally, spiritual direction is best done in person, but yes, we can successfully conduct sessions via Skype or over the phone, if that works well for you. Since we are part of the Sustainable Faith network of spiritual directors, we may also be able to put you in contact with a trained director that lives somewhere close to you.
Costs (the fine print): We offer spiritual direction to all who desire it and we don’t want the cost to be an insurmountable obstacle for you in working with us. Our first two sessions are always free of charge. After our introductory sessions, if you choose to continue working with us, our suggested donation for each one-hour session is $50, payable at end of each session. Since spiritual direction is not a “quick fix”, and change takes time, we recommend scheduling one session per month with at least a six month commitment. A special discounted rate is available for those who pre-schedule and pre-pay for a set of six sessions in advance. If you have questions or concerns about the costs involved, or you’d like to have spiritual direction, but just can’t afford it, please let us know and we will do our best to work with you and your unique situation.
I understand that a spiritual director is a prayerful, listening friend, trained to assist me on my spiritual journey. Spiritual direction is not psychological counseling; therefore The Contemplative Activist and my spiritual director are not responsible for any issues I may have that require professional psychological services.
